Palm Springs is a terrific place to visit, any time of year.

My condos at Palm Springs Esprit Condos are walking distance to Vons Rimrock Shopping center, Trader Joes,  McDonalds, Starbucks, great seafood and Mexican restaurants, Target with a new and growing shopping center, and lots of golf. Drive to downtown Palm Springs in 5 minutes or restaurant row in Rancho Mirage in 10 minutes.

Seasons

  • Winter -- enjoy 70 to 80 degree days, golf, swimming, relaxing, vacationing. January is also International Film Festival, and in 2007, Brad Pitt was in town with dozens of other celebrities.
  • Spring -- starting to warm-up, but a beautiful time in the desert, plus tennis, golf, theatre.
  • Summer -- Some days are over 100, but both condo's are centrally air-conditioned, and all of Palm Springs is either cooled, or has the best fog sprinklers so you can eat on the sidewalk enveloped in a cloud and eat the best food. And if you need a break, the mountains are just a few minutes away and up the Palm Springs Tramway. Be sure to take a sweater or coat before you go up ... it gets cool up there.
  • Fall -- new adventures, cooler days, warm nights, the sun starts to set earlier. Idyllwild is a short drive away and high enough in the mountains to invigorate you. Plus plenty of shops, restaurants, and antique stores.

What to Do in Palm Springs

Shopping
From the River Center to Down Palm Springs, from consignment stores to Beverly Hills type stores, you have it all right here. Shopping is another popular diversion in Palm Springs. There are hundreds of shops, designer boutiques, art galleries, and markets. Most are located on South Palm Canyon Drive. Every Thursday evening a portion of this main thoroughfare is closed to all but pedestrian traffic for an open-air Village Fest. El Paseo in nearby Palm Desert is another shopping area that has been compared to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills because of its collection of elite designer shops. If you are a bargain hunter, the Desert Hills Premium Outlets in Cabazon, about 15 minutes west of Palm Springs features 120 factory outlet shops.
Restaurants
From those unbelievable pancakes at the Sunrise Cafe to sitting in a booth at Lord Fletcher's where Sinatra used to have dinner; from delicious Mexican restaurants to Sushi. Palm Springs is famous for its eateries.  There are a variety of restaurants in Palm Springs and its neighboring communities. The dining options include everything from very classy fine dining establishments to modestly priced ethnic cuisine and inexpensive fast food. The dance clubs and bistros are favorite after-dark hangouts for the trendy urban professionals that flock to Palm Springs on weekends. Sometimes, you can even spot a few Hollywood celebrities.
Casinos
Indian owned and operated casinos are found nearby, and one is right in downtown Palm Springs. Slot machines, card games ... take a breather and see if you win the jackpot!
National Parks and Other Attractions
Indian Canyons, located on the tribal lands of the Agua Caliente natives, is a delightful place to see some of the great natural beauty of the desert geology and desert foliage. These picturesque canyons featuring a natural desert oasis provide a great place for walking and hiking. A rotating aerial tramway located in Chino Canyon can take you up 8,500 feet (2700 meters) to Mount San Jacinto State Park where the temperature is often 30 degrees cooler and the hiking trails are surrounded by giant redwood forests.
Palm Springs has a Desert Museum and an aircraft museum. Nearby Palm Desert offers a large Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. Joshua Tree National Park is only 35 miles east of the city.
Theater and Movies
IMAX is nearby, and several theaters from smaller 1 and 2 screen intimate movie houses to large mega-complex theaters such as the Mary Pickford Movie Theater just a few minutes away.
Golf
Golf is a year-round activity at Palm Springs, and there are over one hundred courses in the area. The lush green fairways seem so incongruous to the surrounding barren desert. I heard that it takes over on million gallons (4 million liters) of water every day just to maintain the grass on the golf courses. Swimming pools and tennis courts are almost as numerous as the palm trees in this area. Palm Springs is typically a place to relax, play golf and lounge around the pool under a warm desert sun.
Grocery Stores
Von's Groceries, a short drive, or a 15 minute walk. Ralphs Supermarket, Trader Joes (easily walking distance)
Newspapers
The Desert Sun is available near the mailboxes at the main entrance to Esprit. In addition, the Los Angeles Times, San Diego papers, and New York Times are available at Vons and Ralphs.
Close to My Condos Shopping:
At the corner of Golf Club Drive (turns into Crossley) and Ramon:
1.  PetSmart
2.  Lowes
3.  WalMart (24 hour location)
4.  Del Taco (California/Mexican fast food, but also has great hamburgers)
5.  7/11 24 hour market
Turning LEFT or RIGHT onto E. Palm Canyon Drive
1.  Left ... Target, Starbucks, IMAX Theater, Trader Joe's, McDonalds, Seafood, Mexican Food, ice cream shops, El Pollo Loco,
and much, much more. If you continue on E. Palm Drive, you enter Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, and El Paseo Shops.
2.  Right ... Vons, pizza, Ralphs, great walking area, etc. Continue going for a few minutes, and you're in DOWNTOWN
PALM SPRINGS with shops, restaurants, casinos, and more.
